CodeLance newsletter December 2003
Dear CodeLance member,

Just a short newsletter this month as I'm sure many of you are busy with festive duties (i.e. still trying to find that special gift for your mother/girlfriend/pet goldfish etc.)!

Firstly then, a quick reminder that the special offer on CodeLance secondary projects is still in place and runs until the 21st. All secondary projects posted before the end of the 21st will be exempt from the usual $200 minimum so, if you're a service buyer, now is the ideal time to post all your smaller projects for no charge.

And now something slightly different. Over the past few years, but especially in recent months, there has been a lot of media discussion in the UK about the role of outsourcing and its implications for local and global economies. A substantial number of UK jobs have recently been lost due to companies outsourcing their requirements to other countries where wage costs are lower. I'd be very interested to hear what you think about the growing use of outsourcing in today's business environment. Does it have a profound, negative impact on local economies? Do lower wages necessarily mean lower standards? Alternatively, are service providers in lower wage countries capable of providing an even better service than their counterparts? Whatever your viewpoint I'd love to hear it and will present a selection of opinions in next month's newsletter.

That's it for this month. Whatever you're doing over the festive season and wherever you are, have a good one!

Kind regards,

Rod Morris
